(2,498 posts)33. If this happens, I would bet it's to avert another coup attempt. Recently Thom Hartmann
wrote a piece speculating that the Republicans will attempt to install Trump in January by challenging certain election results of any new Democratic representatives and thus retaining control of the House through January 6th, and then following it up by refusing to certify electors from enough states to throw the Presidential election to the House.
If these Republicans resign, I expect it's to deliberately hand the House to the Democrats in order to thwart this possibility. That said, I'll believe it when I see it.
