(6,178 posts)Imagine 10's of thousands of people from all over the nation in one confined space all day and into the night for several days. Then there is the time when they are in local hotels, restaurants, bars, etc.
This is an absolute guaranteed covid19 hot spot in the making; one that would spread out across the entire nation. I can't see how it could be safely held there, or, for that matter, anywhere.
You know there will not be many, if any, masks in sight, and close personal contact will be unavoidable...breathing each others air unavoidable.
Unfortunately it's a lose - lose situation for Cooper.
If he allows it, he will be condemned for the tragedy that will inevitably occur.
If he doesn't allow it, he will be condemned for playing politics with the RNC convention.
Personally I think he has to say "no" and let the chips fall where they may.
Let the death toll be on someone else's head.
Cooper's first responsibility is to protect the people of Charlotte.
