So true. Most of them don't seem to have ever heard of the New Testament or don't realize that Jesus himself was a Hebrew rabbi (assuming he ever really existed).

And, if they do remember the New Testament, the whole St. Paul/Saul (of Tarsus) thing? He was not one of the original 12 apostles, but a Jew/Roman citizen who never actually crossed paths with Jesus, even though a good chunk of the New Testament was based on his writings. That those important bits always seem to get left out of their screeching always leaves me a bit gob smacked. For all their proselytizing about the faith, they don't really seem to know anything about it and its origins. (It's actually a very fascinating area of study, be you a believer or not, given how much of the evolution of our history revolves around the Christian faith.)
