(57,936 posts)The only reason they don't support his bills, amendments, etc. (and they have supported some of them) is that they (the current members of Congress) vote as they think their donors and the American people want them to.
Any Democrat will vote for Bernie's ideas. Any Democrat provided the American people turn out and vote for Bernie.
The idea that Democrats in Congress won't back Bernie if he is elected is just silly. Sorry, but it is. If we Bernie supporters get a majority for our candidate, the Congress will be delighted to support his ideas.
Actually, it's the current Congress that does not support Obama.
The list of his ideas that he cannot work with Congress to accomplish is long, long, long. First of all, there is immigration, and it just goes on and on from there.
Bernie can't do worse in terms of getting Congressional support than Obama has.
It's time for Bernie's ideas.
We have gone through a technological revolution. The benefits of that revolution have not been reaching ordinary people because of a lot of issues that Bernie is talking about. We have to raise taxes on oil and gas and on the rich. And we have to invest that money in the environment, in cheaper means of transportation, in better education for all and childcare among other things. Most of all we need to stop the TPP. That trade agreement will be very bad for our country especially the trade courts.
If Bernie wins, he will get the support of Democrats in Congress. He is not that far to the left.
