Wallace and Schmidt realized early-on that Sarah Palin was a vacuous basket case and have since lamented the dumbing down of the Republican party. If anything they have more credibility in calling out Trump's GOP than many progressive critics, who can be spot-on in their assessments but subject to accusations of being "partisan". The sad thing is that for every informed GOP centrist who was revolted by and voted against Trump, there were 2 or 3 Dem or Dem-leaning indie blue collar voters who broke ranks and supported him.
