(14,179 posts)141. "...conceding this site to that unsavory element"
And that "unsavory element" is those that see monsters under every bed and use every opportunity to sow discord on here.
DU has pretty strict rules on behaviour. And "kooky extremists" that register and post unsavory content will soon be sent off. I'm sure you've been busy yourself alerting posts left and right. There's a difference between some troll with only a few posts that registers for the sole purpose of disruption and the opinions of seasoned DUers with thousands of posts. You don't seem to differentiate between them other than they don't have the same irrational personal hatred toward one of our most important and popular allies.
And what is most disturbing is that you seem to have zero clue how supporting this kind of disruption and sowing discontent, is counter productive. That you seemingly are proud of it and will continue. Promoting a "you're either with us or with the terrorists" view that reduces discussion into which side you are on, "where everyone stands" is a slap in the face to the notion of open debate. That there are no grey areas, and thus nothing to discuss. No possibility that anyone could ever convince you to let go of bitterness and work together. ie..a critique of the party's strategies because they've been losing so much in the last decade is an "attack", even though other prominent Democrats have said the same thing.
Hillary has/had faults, and Bernie has/had faults. And Hillary has great qualities and a history of working hard in helping Americans in a positive way. And Sanders has great qualities and a history or working hard in helping Americans in a positive way. No that doesn't mean they get off scott free. Hillary and the DNC were at the helm in the campaign. Sanders had no more influence after she adopted some of his platform and he endorsed her. it is only natural, after such a loss, to self examine and critique those that actually were in charge of winning.
Sanders had nothing to do with Hillary losing the general. Even if it was mostly Russia, and GOP voter suppression, the DNC and the Clinton campaign must share at least a part of the blame. Even she admits as much. On Bernies end, of course there are issues that he can be criticized. Like his voting record on protecting gun manufacturers from litigation for instance. But surely all hard work to defeat Trump and promote Democrat policy has to weigh in on his favor over all.
Russian trolls infiltrated Bernie sites to sow discord. Yes.. so how is this the fault of Bernie supporters, of whom there are many on DU still? Most saw through those trolls btw, thanks in large part to Sanders who was perpetually reminding everyone to stay focused on the issues, not on the "damn emails" or any other faux scandal. Any person on those sites that fell for that was most likely a few bricks shy, and never going to vote for Hillary anyways. So that effect was negligible. It seems like just the fact that he exists, that he dared to challenge the Clinton machine, is enough to shower him with derision, and by extension, anyone that dared to think he'd have been a better choice than Hillary.

I think so, too! We're stronger and better than they are. We also have to be alert and assertive!
