2. I saw the entire series and am reading an article in Time about it.

The thing that was mentioned in Time was that the protests, lies by presidents (all of them during the war) etc. could have been used by Burns and Novick to compare the current atmosphere with the one during the war. However, and fortunately, they began making the series 10 years ago and did not use it with a specific political agenda in mind. This is good since it can be viewed in its own right as it should be. Now it can be compared and contrasted more objectively with today's issues, and there are many.
