They are pissed. That is it.
We found out a mere 48 or so hours ago that the DNC did keep its thumb on the scale or it sure wanted to.
HRC supporters will go -- "Just emails. There is no evidence anything really happened."
Maybe, but they said the DNC was neutral too and that was not so. See this lovely smoking gun.
It probably would not have made a difference one way or another -- and I actually believe that, mostly -- however, then why do it? HRC supporters will never be able to prove that it made no difference. And Bernie supporters will not be able to prove the inverse. You cannot rewind time.
But here is why you are likely to lose more Bernie supporters than you'd like.
Because HRC Democrats are blaming them for the disarray at the Convention. I have been looking through posts and other than the occasional Bernie supporter (like myself) making a comment no one seems to be blaming the DNC leadership for this debacle of their own making. Hell, one person is sending the aggrieved Debbie Wasserman-Schultz a contribution because of it. I have seen almost no harsh words aimed at the leadership and I am pretty sure I know why.
But until the DNC accepts responsibility -- and yes they issued an apology but then went right on the attack against the people they just apologized to -- and I get that it could not happen at a worse time -- but that is not an apology or accepting responsibility -- know you are no going to change all hearts and minds with this tact. And smirk or not that is not going to help the party come the election.
If you know a Bernie supporter ask them, "If after the election they believe the DNC will move to address the issues necessary to fix this perception problem?" Even the ones like me -- who will vote Democrat down the ticket -- will say "no". I bet to a person. Or they will say nothing and that silence is really the deafening answer you should worry about. Because their gone. The screamers and those with any answer are probably just processing.
How do you fix that? To be fair, that is a tough job and I have no clue. But that is not my job -- that is the job of the DNC and presumptive nominee.
However, first quit blaming us. Or at least spread some of it around.
You might be surprised how quickly the ire and flames die down.
