The same for the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny nor was I allowed to go trick or treating. In a note unrelated note, I haven't talked to my dad in over 14 years. It was very indicative of who he is. He can't imagine that he could be wrong or that setting your kid up to be abnormal is a bad thing.
Granted he had many other larger flaws, but they stem from his ceaseless assumption that he was so much smarter and better that he couldn't be questioned.
