4. After reading and knowing about the escape from the maximum security

prison in Northern New York, I can believe that patient, motivated, smart prisoners can do more than one can imagine. Perhaps there are times of the year and certain conditions they look for - tides, currents, water temps, etc.

Note: My cousin has done the annual swim from San Francisco to Alcatraz a number of times, even well into his 60's. He trains for these long-distance swims.
