(19,926 posts)diet. I have eliminated red meat and pork but do eat poultry sometimes - generally about 3 times/week - and the occasional bacon. If I buy it myself I buy organic free range, but I can't only eat at restaurants that serve that because work buys me lunch every day. And I can't always eat organic veggies because of that as well, but pretty much only buy organic with very few exceptions. I don't eat fish mostly for health reasons but I'm aware that we are supposed to run out of fish in about 50 years.
I can't live without a computer, but I limit my electricity use. I only have lights on that I need and use LED bulbs now.
I save the water I run in the tub to get to the hot water in a bucket and use that water to flush my toilet. I don't always completely turn off the water as I shampoo and soap up though.
So the point is, even if you can't completely live a life in perfect accordance with your beliefs, if everyone cut back a good percentage and was actually conscious of how they are contributing to things and what they are wasting and took steps to adjust and lessen their impact, we would need so much less energy and water and factory farming.
