(17,003 posts)And if this is mostly about a class reunion, I would definitely go.
So far, I've been to:
Nixon Library - Yorba Linda, CA (it's local, so what the heck. My folks wanted to see it).
Ronald Reagan - Simi Valley, CA (it's a few hours away -- again went with my folks who wanted to see it).
JFK Library - Boston, MA (went with my dad during a trip to New England).
The JFK Library is like hallowed ground. Seriously. I teared up several times for obvious reasons about his assasination, but also it reminds you of times and events in your own life -- that's why the Presidential libraries are so interesting and compelling to me.
We've been talking about a trip to New York to see FDR's library, but we haven't gotten around to that one yet. Both of us would like to see all the libraries eventually (I think there are 11? I'll have to Google it again). Can't wait to see FDRs! We also had to cancel a trip to Texas, but we had planned to see LBJ's in Austin and then maybe squeeze the Bush libraries in just for the experience.
They are educational and for me can be very sentimental, but not about that particular President --but about the world and our lives in general. Just my 2 cents.
