(62,325 posts)It was stunning to have actual proof that this is what they do.
And sickening to see what they considered worth finding out about him. Clearly at the time, HB Gary didn't even know much about him which is obvious from some of their 'proposals'. Eg, most people knew Greenwald was gay, THEY were proposging 'looking up his family, check on his wife, his children, there they go to school, where the family goes to Church etc.' What they INTENDED to do with such information, smear the kids maybe? is hard to imagine.
But it shows that THEY knew nothing at all about him. Which means, a bid was OUT on him from BOA.
Imo, this should be ILLEGAL! It is dissemination propaganda to the American people which I always thought was against the law.
A few Democrats wanted an investigation into the Anonymous revelations, because they claimed there were potential violations regarding the FBI in what appeared to be helping with advice, on lawyers etc, BOA.
They set up a committee, but I have not heard anything about it since. I did write an OP about it at the time, but I believe that was on DU2. Not sure we can access those OPS anymore.
What we are watching right here on DU is enough to convince me that that contract on Greenwald was handed out to some Security Contractor, whether it ended up being HB Gary, or since they were so discredited (a Security Contractor totally hacked by Anonymous lol) or someone else. But the uniformity of the attacks, 'he's not a leftie' 'he supported the iraq war' 'he represented neo nazis' etc. ALL are repeated by multiple people across the internet over and over again.
If I wanted to discredit someone, I would set up to prove them WRONG. Clearly they cannot do that. But again, imo, this should be illegal. It silences people who might not have the courage, or the mostly clean background Greenwald has.
