(27,670 posts)Few girls ever get a chance to discover what a real "sexual side" is, or what our real "sexual side" is, because we are taught by mass media from birth that our "sexual side" is supposed to be exactly what is illustrated in the photos in the OP.
The fabricated, marketed role models propagandizing girls and women into how and what our sexuality is supposed to be is fucking everywhere, all the time, not just on the VMAs.
Exploring our sexual side would be awesome, if we weren't imprinted with the illusion, a parody, of what female sexuality is, by an all pervasive example pushed on us by profit motivated marketers, before we are out of the cradle.
If parents in the US were to make a serious attempt to shield their children, not just girls, from artificial sexualization, they'd practically have to move to a remote region of the Northwest Territories, not have any visual media, and keep the kids from going to town until they are 18.
Don't get me wrong, I love sex early and often, but I had to seriously ponder and eliminate the artifices in my sexuality that were created by media sexualization, in order to come to a place where I feel that my sexuality is genuine, and as much my own as I have been able to determine to this point.
