There is a well-heeled demographic that squealed loudly about that part early on. But I doubt they saw how dangerous getting in bed with the teas is.
Since the teas would have stopped or delayed their SS; reduced their SS to 41% as part of the teas' 'managed catastrophe' or played the debt game until their investments went belly up.
And all taxation is redistribution; the Founders saw it that way; and it was intended as 'class warfare' for the many against the remnants of the implacable rich and the budding class of aristocrats of their day, whom they considered a threat.
