We all need to learn to use the correct terminology and I don't mean that to be condescending. It's just that I hate it when people who don't really know something act like experts in something with such conviction that others believe them and then pass the meme along.
I was at a small neighborhood gathering one time and there is a couple in my neighborhood who both think they know everything about everything and they state what they "know" with such conviction that I see others believing what they're saying even though I know it's incorrect. For instance, they were informing everyone at the party that you didn't really have to go on Medicare when you're 65 and that you are automatically "signed up" without your approval and you have to call and tell them you don't want Medicare. I'm serious. I spoke up and said tactfully that that wasn't exactly true and the couple practically shouted me down so I gave up.
Anyway, my point is that we need to make sure we use the correct terminology. The same goes for Social Security. There's a lot of confusion between Social Security and SSI.
