(115,938 posts)This is the part that has to go into effect for all the rest of it to work. Furthermore, giving into any GOP demand in exchange for their agreeing not to shut down the government is not negotiating; it's caving. And when you agree to any demand of a terrorist organization, that is just encouraging them to keep making more demands. Remember: the ACA was enacted by Congress, signed by the president and upheld by the Supreme Court. They have tried without success to repeal it 43 times. It's the law. There's nothing to negotiate. Agreeing to change the terms of a duly enacted law because some political terrorists don't like it and can't get it repealed through the normal legislative process is not democracy. And it will only get worse if they get what they want this time.
