In reply to the discussion: Putting down my dog: The late great Little-Dog [View all]No Vested Interest
(5,165 posts)115. You were so kind to Little-dog in her last days.
I'm sure you'll have tears as you read the words written here by DUers.
Her story struck a chord with me, for we had a Standard Dachshund, LAdy, who also liked to lie down in the road. I believe she like the warmth of the tarred area where the street was repaired.
Unfortunately, she died when hit by a car, not when she was lying down in the street, but when she was making her rounds of neighborhood garbage cans set out the evening before pick-up.
Lady was not too classy, but she was a part of our family and we were sad when she was gone.
Peace to you and yours.
