Am I the only one who wasn't impressed with Best Actress? [View all]

Normally I'd agree with this being a Lounge post but last night could have made history. The first Native American actress ever was nominated not just for any acting role but Best Female Lead. She wasn't a long shot and many critics had her as the winner. Once again the award went to someone representing the same old thing in Hollywood.

I'm not dismissing Emma Stone. She did a marvelous job in her role. Lily Gladstone did more. She put a face to the horrors of the time, to the victims during yet another shameful moment in American history that people are still profiting from to this day. (That includes several prominent Oklahoma families including the Drummonds.)

The moment was there and it was ignored.

It was just far too long for that kind of story - 3 hours and 26 minutes - that's like "Ben-Hur" length for a far less Midwestern Democrat Mar 11 #19
