(292 posts)First, I do not understand why he gets so much credit for saying Trump could win in 2016. He predicts the Democratic candidate for president will lose every election. If you predict the Republican to win every election eventually you will be right. It would be like me predicting that a plane is going to crash. And I keep making that prediction every week. Eventually I am going to be right because that is something that unfortunately is going to happen at some point. Does that make me an airline expert? A psychic? Hardly. If I walk in a casino every day and bet the number 21 at the roulette table and finally after losing 264 straight days the number 21 finally hits on day 265 do you proclaim me to be a gambling expert? Someone highly skilled that can teach you about betting?
Here is basically what he does. He talks this doom and gloom Democrats better do this stuff every election. If we win he goes on a tv tour patting himself on the back for forewarning us in time to save the election. If we lose he goes on an "I told you so" tv tour lamenting how his warnings went unheeded. It's a bogus win win scenario designed to make him appear to be right no matter what happens. The truth is that he and his opinions are irrelevant and are of no consequence one way or the other. Not one US election in his lifetime would have gone down any different if he had never been born. Sorry, that's the truth.
And lastly what are we to do based on his comments? Does he really think that anyone engaged enough to even hear his words are taking this election so lightly or over confidently that we aren't going bother to vote or do all that we can to help Biden win? I find the implication insulting. And furthermore I feel like the negativity of his comments are more likely to dissuade people from voting than spur them towards it. I don't think I have ever witnessed the man talk on TV in which he didn't spent more time disparaging the Democratic party than the Republicans. The old phrase that starts "With Friends Like These..." comes to mind.
We have enough on our hands with Trump and his cult followers squared off in front of us. It would sure be nice under the circumstances to not have to keep glancing over our shoulder to see if Michael Moore is easing around behind our back again with a butchers knife in his hand.
