(24,653 posts)his two older brothers K-8 and him K-6. We had a fantastic eclectic diverse secular group of families back then. It was an amazing experience.
I don't think that will be necessary though. If DeSantis doesn't continue his budget shenanigans anyway. He could quite likely finish his education through Florida Virtual School if our school board doesn't come to their senses. If it came down to it, he could probably already pass the GED.
We're in a bit of a fortunate situation with this kid. He's already taken the SATs and has three years of transcripts showing solid academic work. BUT...that probably isn't even necessary. He's hoping to attend a music conservatory like New England Conservatory, Julliard, Eastman, or Manhattan School of Music. Don't know about the likes of Julliard, but I could see him getting into NEC. None of these schools care much about your grades or SAT score provided you have a high school diploma. It's all audition driven. They want to know you have the talent, skill, and determination to grow and succeed as an artist.
While he was looking forward to his senior year, (He'd be the BMIB - big man in band - He was set to make drum major in the marching band, compete for all-state and all-county again, have the whole senior big head kind of thing), he's also got half of his brain already off to college. Of my three kids, I think he's the best one to be going through this as a high school senior. The other two would be way more gutted.
We're definitely aware we're in a much better situation than other families having to make decisions about school this fall.
