but back in the 1980's I used to be an enrolled agent. There's probably an effective date in the legislation authorizing the advance tax credit, if the taxpayer was alive on that date, then their estate would get the credit, if not, then it probably wouldn't. And, it takes time for Social Security records to be updated with death reports, so I'd guess that tens of thousands of payments to deceased persons will happen.
