I watched his so-called press conference, and he was mumbling and looking down and very low energy. Truth is, Trump really doesn't care about any of this, and he can't use it to call attention to himself. His usual bluster was gone. He is incapable of being the person who can "calm" the nation. We are so used to hearing him belittle others and puff himself up, that when he doesn't do that, he comes off as someone who is half-asleep. When he has to stick to a script instead of going off on a stream-of-consciousness rant, you can see how unfit for office he really is.
