6. Trump thinks the markets fell *despite* his presser but the reality is *he made it worse*

Trump's presser simply affirmed what was already likely in the minds of anyone remotely paying attention the past 3 years -- that he is not going to do anything EFFECTIVE to limit the damage, and that he IS going to do INEFFECTIVE and HARMFUL things in an attempt to satisfy his ego and "win" the next news cycle.

So anyone with two brain cells knows that the US is going to get slammed by a pandemic respiratory virus with no vaccine. There will be massive economic disruption. That's bad enough.

But now the WH has silenced the CDC experts -- who are the public's best source of evidence-based guidance to minimize both the health damage and, by not panicking or following looney crap, the economic damage. They've put in charge a guy who presided over the biggest acute cluster if new HIV infections in US history AND MADE IT WORSE BY DENYING REALITY/SCIENCE/STATISTICS in favor of moralizing right-wing dogma. They've done this after having eliminating the position -- not just firing the person, flat out getting rid of the job description -- which was to coordinate pandemic responses between federal agencies, probably because it was a position Obama had made an important part of his WH.

*IF* Trump REALLY wanted Wall Street not to react poorly to coronavirus, he never should have praised Xi, he never should have said it would be better by spring, he never should have put Pence in charge, he never should have silenced CDC experts, he never should have spoken/tweeted about this matter himself AT ALL.
