How does it make sense for the trump defense team to attack Hunter Biden?

13. It's what Trump does. It's how he knocked down 16 GOP opponents in 2016...

He picked them off one by one until he was the only one left. Very simple formula: he lies and lies and lies.

But the lies are tailored to the individual and all show a pattern:

Make up a nasty belittling nickname and use it often
Find an emotional weak spot (Ted Cruz loves his wife) and get inside their head and under their skin (Your wife so ugly. How ugly is she? Too ugly to "date" )
Stick the knife in. Twist it.
Mock the victim's response (Cruz choked and teared up)
Keep this up until they quit
Move on immediately to the next one

It does not matter if you think your chosen candidate is godlike and can stand up to a Cat 5 hurricane. It does not matter if you think Joe Biden is too old or whatever. Know this: once Joe and Hunter Biden are destroyed your candidate is next.

So we either stick together and defend each other, or Trump/Pence is guaranteed to win this November.
