over the 1990s and since as RW leadership became more extremist and ruthless. Some politicians sold out in order to be allowed to remain, Collins and her "moderate conservative" hypocrisy among the most obvious. Replacements were chosen/allowed for their willingness to go along to get along, and in many cases also for their own extreme RW orientations.
As for caring, let's not underestimate the ability of corrupt, dishonorable people, and always those with extremist bents, to see their self-serving betrayals as "caring." Liberalism is destroying our nation and they're saving us. It'll be much better off under good, conservative authoritarian government than it is now.
