4. Think Durham is playing Barr for time

Most accounts are that Durham isn't a hack, a rarity in this cabal. By letting Barr move it into a criminal probe, he's likely hoping to stretch it out like the Mueller probe and maybe outlast them. In a Grand Jury investigation, the presiding judge will control any leaks from the prosecutors under criminal penalties.

Barr wants to time release for strategic points during the Campaign, think Comey. Not betting on it, Durham might round up some of the real crooks in DoJ, like the ones leaking to Rudy in '16 for example.

Getting someone on the stand at a GJ can lead to interesting things being said.
