"Irish people had it rough too!" --- Yeah courtesy of white people, you work to get labeled white and you sell yourself out.

“whiteness is not a culture but a privilege and exists for no reason other than to defend it.” That's seen right there.

Poor white people are indeed screwed over all the time... I should know, I am one of those poor white people, but whiteness can make you see it as the 'other', the refugee, the immigrant, the non-white person, the person who doesn't comply to social norms, etc. as your enemy; and the person who is screwing you over... another white person who is just richer and more socially connected than you is instead your ally in your mind, a fellow person in the struggle.
