(14,854 posts)Isn't that pretty much what it boils down to? So really, we're right back to saying only non-Christians can be bad people.
Why is it so difficult to say that there are true Christians who just really suck at being Christian? Most of these people you say aren't Christians have a real faith in Jesus. They interpret the book differently than you do, their churches preach a different message, they have a different idea of God's will, and of their role as followers of Christ. Nevertheless, their faith is genuine.
Figuring out Jesus's teaching must be a very complicated business. If it were as simple as you say to determine what Christianity is supposed to be, would we have all these thousands of different varieties of Christianity? The members of all those different varieties of Christianity are certain that they are right, and that everyone else is doing it wrong.
