4. I saw an interview a while back with a retired Republican Congressman from Texas.

He said all politicians have to deal with cranks from time to time. You try not to alienate them, you be polite, you do represent them just like others in your district, you want their vote, but you don't cater to them.

But now his Republican Party seeks out the cranks, encourages them, and has been taken over by the cranks, even electing cranks to office and then to leadership.

He called the GOP the Party of Cranks.
