(18,964 posts)from a few years back was when I visited several gun dealers looking for a shotgun for home defense. In our community there were several instances of persons waking up in the middle of the night with an intruder in their bedroom and the police were at an absolute loss to determine how to stop it.
At one gun shop, every employee carried a weapon. I assumed that it was company policy. At the other gun shop NONE of the employees were armed. I was curious so I asked the owner why there was a difference. The owner was a former police officer in Chicago and he told me that if somebody came in to rob the store, the first persons they would look for would be those who were armed. They would be the threat that had to be addressed first.
soooooooo
If somebody wanted to do a mass shooting, their first targets would be security types and those walking around with "open carry"...or, as it is called by some "Constitutional Carry". In other words the guys carrying guns because they "feel safer" are actually making themselves the primary target for anybody with nefarious intent.
