(38,349 posts)... and I've too frequently been the sort who gets into rough situations with other people and wildlife.
I don't let anyone I'd care to shoot live in my head, not people, not snakes, not wild boars.
Most people carrying guns are incompetent to use them wisely.
Including cops.
My family is Wild West. Fools and their guns are soon parted.
When I was a kid I once witnessed my mom grab a rifle from someone and break it. He instantly went from being a tough guy to screaming "I'm gonna sue! I'm gonna sue!" He never did.
If I didn't have dogs I might shoot the ground squirrels and rats around here. Our current pack of dogs are exterminators. Our husky is the only dog I've ever had who kills gophers. If he can't dig them up he waits patiently until they stick their heads up and grabs them. He's like a cat that way. He's like a cat in a few other ways too, doesn't do anything just because someone told him too.
Gun fetishes are disgusting. Gun culture in the U.S.A. needs to die.
Yeah, I have shot and killed animals I've eaten, but not in this century. Fantasy frontiersman, even in Alaska, are full of shit. Ninety percent of them buy most of their meat in grocery stores like everyone else.
