(35,422 posts)I read constantly, too, even at stoplights when I'm driving.
It doesn't dilute the book if I read one after another. I record each book I read in a journal. Then if I want to remember it, I can look it up on the internet and refresh my mind.
How long does it take? I can't really say but I read numerous books at one time. Some take weeks, others, days.
No, I don't feel like I'm abandoning family when I read. I often do it in their presence while they, too, are reading.
As far as sedentary, that could be a problem which I alleviate by only reading 20" at a time. I set a timer and when it goes off, I go do something active, like vacuum or pull weeds. Then I come back and read another 20" and so on.
Still work: yes. Love my work and will never quit. I'm my own boss so I control when and how much I work. Right now I have a work project that is very demanding of my skills and intellect, so at the end of every day I am excited about what I've accomplished. It could potentially be quite lucrative at some point, too, so that keeps me interested.
Is my job sedentary? Some are, some aren't. I have one job that is very physically demanding. My other jobs require a great deal of reading and writing. I use the same 20" rule with them.
Re your last sentence, same here. I enjoy that very much.
