2. Its not about excuses. THEY DON'T CARE. We want people to be upset about racism, and they just aren'

One of Trump's biggest victories is how irrelevant he has made racism and other prejudices for a huge portion of our population. Too many of us are still operating under the old model that assumes people care if they're labelled racist. Tens of millions couldn't give 2 shits what we label them. These used to be issues we could easily win on, but too many Americans just don't care anymore.

We should always call it out when we see it, but long gone are the days that someone's controversial racial comments immediately doomed their political career. In fact today, their controversial comments are usually a useful tool for them to distract from their even more problematic policies.

While we handwring over hurtful rhetoric (which unfortunately too many Americans just do not care about), they cage children.
