We are a little enraged about it. And fearful.
If doctors were cutting off penises of young boys at behest of their parents, would the administration take a position not to prosecute? FGM is not circumcision.

This OP has lots of interesting content. For example, I had never thought to make a connection between the forced breeding of slave women as livestock and abortion laws. Come to think of it, we weren’t really taught that forced breeding was a thing— slaves came in slave ships and picked cotton in the field. But forced breeding? That is a great topic to illuminate; it is a blind spot in how we are educated about slavery. How many of the male GOP leaders pushing against abortion come from a line of slaveholding men who PROFITED FROM the rape and intentional forced breeding of enslaved women?

Do most men love women? Yes, maybe “most” at certain ages. But there’s an 18 year old boy in San Antonio Texas who just murdered his own mother this week. And 171 republicans in Congress refuse to support women in getting guns out of the hands of their abusive partners. Women are killed every day by men who supposedly “loved” them. Sex trafficking is a thing that too many powerful men seem to patronize. And women making 80 cents on the dollar might be spending an extra $100 a year on birth control not to mention expensive hygiene products. Don’t get me started on the already-born men who selfishly want to save themselves money on health insurance by carving out pregnancy benefits. Selfishness is an epidemic.

The men I know are mostly loving, worthwhile people. But blind spots have a way of multiplying. And many men whose power has ascended — the Republicans in Washington and in state legislatures — are one big walking blind spot.

I miss one powerful man who I know loved women. Barack Obama. Too many others grow up with hate, resentment, or indifference in their hearts.

Don’t feel attacked by a broad brush. Pick up a brush and help us. We need allies. We need the message to get out. We need these clueless and twisted descendants of slaveowners to be disempowered and their electorate to wake the hell up.
