In reply to the discussion: John Fitzgerald Kennedy 11-22-1963 Where Were You? [View all]H2O Man
(73,579 posts)65. I was in school.
We were sent home after it was announced. I remembering my younger sister crying on the bus ride home, and my mother weeping when the five of us kids went into our house. My father had completed building our house about 18 months early, in a rural neighborhood outside of town. Five neighbors had put up "for sale" signs, as they were highly offended that an Irish Catholic family had moved in. Hence, on this day, I remember some of the rude things that kids in the neighborhood said about JFK, the pope, and us.
Fifteen years later, on this date, a good friend of mine was murdered. Thanksgiving is not among my favorite holidays.
