Just an idea: as technology advances in the manufacturing sector, robots and AI’s are replacing human workers.
About thirty years ago in japan, there was an effort to create a 100% automated factory. Ahead of its time, they never got past about 85% automation. Today, advances in robotics and AI make this possible. Even the job of CEO could be done by an AI.
When an industry like car manufacturing, for example, fires it’s last worker, and 100% of the profit goes to shareholders, nationalize the fucker! The profits could go into programs to retrain workers, or simply into the US federal budget. Lower taxes for everyone, and more money for social programs. Oh My!
I could just
I could go on about how analingus is the new fundamentalist sacrament, or I could go on about how Trump could spread his shit on crackers and the folks at fox would get into fist fights over who gets the first taste, but I won't. What I'd like to say is that the Tom Brokaw / Hannity interview pointed out an essential truth of American politics going back to Reagan.
Ideology vs. facts.
Or in other world, if your standard of truth is fact based reason, as apposed to faith based assertions, then EVERYTHING the republicans have been saying since 'trickle down economics', and EVERY PRINCIPLE and every REASON for action they have put forth since the 80's is a CALCULATED LIE. What do you think all those right wing think tanks are for?
Simple fact checking and research will prove this.
So, as much fun it is to creatively curse the un-righteous right, what's needed more than ventilation, is a carefully thought out, and verifiable, compassionate philosophy of life, (we need modern Gandhi's and Martin Luther Kings ), That a coherent humanistic politics will naturally flow from.
Tall order. And not for 'right now'. First we have an election to win, and possibly a nation to save from an unhinged real estate salesman.
Paper ballots
We have to assume that the Corona outbreak will still be going come election time. Why not mail everybody out of state ballots? It avoids hackable electronic voting machines, (at least one maker is Russian owned), 'hanging chads', and gives a paper trail if there are accusations of voter fraud. The laws and regulation are already in place, they just need a bigger staff. SEE HOW FAST THE REPUBLICANS FIGHT THIS IDEA.
Billions!Coruption!
Billions of dollars freed up for Corona virus...get ready for the corruption! All republicans, and sadly some democrats too, will try to funnel that money to friends, family, and fellow travelers. Lets hope reporters keep asking Trump 'nasty questions'. Look out for some of that money finding its way into Christian right hands. Look out for faith based organizations turning away gays and lesbians and oh yea immigrants. Tell me I'm wrong.
2024
It looks like nationally, if the election were today, Biden would beat Trump by an unambiguous margin. Lets pray Trump doesn't suspend the election based on Corona fears. But what about 2024? Imagine a Pence/Falwell ticket.
A squeaky clean and marginally competent paelo-conservative, and the religious scumbag son of one of the biggest religious scumbags ever. Pence could run the country while Falwell 'shepards' all the 'bad' people into death camps. Hey, they're going to hell anyway, why not speed up the process?(apologies, that is kind of trollish).
Seriously, if Trump does get another 4 years, he will finish putting loyalist judges in power, and finish putting loyalists in executive positions in every nook and cranny of the govt he can force them into. The Christian right has proven they will suck the devils ass hole if it gets them power, and I think that a Pence/Falwell ticket is their end game. Falwell runs a college, and Trump is already putting college kids in high places.
Hire from inside the fold. Put a 22 year old creation science major in charge of the National Science Foundation, NIH, or DARPA.
Yea they did
Last week I asked(tongue in cheek) when Trump would start blaming Obama for the Corona outbreak. Today he did. I've also been talking about how the republicans are using fascist tactics, and so I wasn't surprised when I saw where they're accusing Democrats of being fascists. There is a book; How Fascism Works by Jason Stanley. This is a must read--it gives you the ideas you need to talk about it coherently. He also has another book on propaganda. I'd like to hear from anyone who can recommend a book, video, etc. that gives you the ideas you need to make sense of the 'flood of bullshit' and pare it down to a manageable size. Thanks!

Call it what it is
Every time I hear a republican say, “Lets be open minded about this…” I know I’m going to be asked to unbuckle my belt, slide my pants down, turn around, bend over, and spread my cheeks.
This is their usual opening statement regarding climate science.
Every time I hear a republican talk about ‘religious freedom’, I know that their either talking about abortion or gay rights. They don’t want any of either because Falwell tells them so.
There are any number of ‘buzz words’ or phrases republicans use, wrapping their Nazi poison in liberal, reasonable language.
To strong to call them Nazis? Maybe we should call them Alt-right? Only if you want to apply political correctness to a cultural force spearheaded by the Cult of Trump. The actions of the republicans in the house and senate, the ‘flood of bullshit’ (in Bannon’s own words) delivered daily by their propaganda machine, and now the beginning of a private secret police (project veritas) have proved one thing.
Beneath the thin tissue of their supposedly noble political and philosophical arguments lies a hungry beast, one who may yet succeed in consuming America, heart and soul.
If they win it won’t be by their own efforts alone. Daily I see Democrats committing a sin of omission that almost guaranties their victory.
They are better at telling lies than we are at telling the truth.
