In Honor Of Today.

(Sorry, had to do it.)

April 8, 2024

So, last Thursday I went to see our Congressperson at a town hall.

Ilhan Omar was in town and I went to see her. I had a question to ask her, but I did not get the chance. I probably would have, were it not for two people who decided to make a scene. Funny thing is, neither of their complaints had anything to do with the Congresswoman. One was a county matter which she was unable to address at all, (Duh, she is our rep in the federal government. There is a chain, regardless of whether or not we like it.) The other was one that she was unable to discuss at the podium, but told the lady that she would be happy to discuss it once the hall was adjourned. Both persons became disruptive and combative, at least until the rather large LEO started to walk over and then they both decided to leave the hall of their own volition. (The second person did not stick around to discuss anything, which shows me that she was not interested in discussion, she was interested in disruption.) I enjoyed Congressperson Omar's discussion and her highlighting the things she is doing for this district.

All in all, a decent evening.

So, I am from North Carolina and I am an N.C. State fan.

This weekend is going to be epic. Both the men's and women's teams are in the Final Four! To be honest, even if they both lose, they should be beyond proud of their efforts. Go Pack!

(I was going to post 'Hungry Like The Wolf' but I will refrain. )

I cannot stop weeping with joy over this lady... wow is all I can say...

Well, they won't let me post it, so here is the link...

Well, they finally made it happen. Just don't say it three times...

For your viewing pleasure. I may be actually a bit excited to see how they do this one. Bear in mind it solidified many as real stars. It was more influential than it should have been, and it became an icon. So did the star.

What the hell is this crap?

I am going to post the link to the article, but if you don't want to go check it out, I understand completely. I wish I had not looked at it. But, I always feel that knowing is more than half the battle.

(Disclosure, it says yahoo but is a Telegraph piece.)

Personally, I think this is more of what Jeff Tiedrich was talking about. The mainstream media seems to want that orange gibbon to be president. They are constantly creating a negative bias against the Democrats and the Biden team. However, this also says to me that they are this desperate to try anything to win. That is the mark of a loser. Which is not a surprise when we are talking about the rethugs and their child-king.

Thanks again for all the hearts!

They were a moment of brightness in an otherwise cloudy life. Thank you to all who felt I should have one.

"It never rains but it pours." **Trigger Warning**

Except in my case. It rains, pours, dumps buckets... whatever it can figure out to do to make my life miserable. Gods, one would think I could handle anything after all the crap I have had to deal with. But no... thanks to mental issues, I cannot.

And, thanks to society looking at mental health as something akin to the Crocs fad, people like myself will never get the help they need. Not until they stop treating mental health like a Bentley dealership. But, they don't want to stop doing that, or 'regular' people might start getting help and then realizing what the real issues are around this nation. The rethug slime do not want that at all. There is no money to be made in helping those who are not in the upper percentile and no way to ensure the wage slave population if they start showing any compassion. So, here we are.

(Please pass assisted suicide legislation. There is no reason to keep suffering people alive just to allow the rich to 'feel better' about telling us to not do it when their real reasons are that they don't want to allow the wage slave force to thin out.)

Thank you all for the hearts!

They mean a lot right now. Things are not the greatest and every little bit counts.

So, I had someone recently tell me that they did not care about me because I do not care about me.

That has made me dwell on the concept that was suggested. Namely, the idea that the capacity to care about someone being connected to whether or not that person cares about themselves. (Or at least the person offering said caring's perception of whether or not the recipient cares at least. The recipient may not care about themselves, but will pretend to care to placate the person offering concern and care. This is dishonest, of course, and is not what I was doing in any event. I have always been upfront about my own self-worth and how I see it.) I have given this a lot of thought and I cannot say that I put such restrictions on whether or not I would care about a person. So, I wanted to open this one up to the room.

What do you lot think about this concept? Is your caring contingent on the other's capacity to self-care? Do you place such restrictions on your level of caring? Does doing so mean that you would not care about a fellow human being because they don't meet your criteria for caring and would therefore be not 'worthy' of your concern? Now, I am not talking about those who put forth effort into another just to have that person continue to fall and fail and finally saying that they cannot help any more. To say such a thing in the context of trying over and over to help that person and not getting anywhere is one thing. I am talking about just simple concern for a fellow human being restricted by that human's level of self-concern. As 'Linda Richmond' from SNL would say, "Talk amongst yourselves."
