Tulsi Gabbard today: "Both sides...unwilling to come together..."

Welp:

TAPPER: "You're not just blaming President Trump on this. You're also blaming Democratic leaders in Congress."

GABBARD: "Both sides have completely hardened their positions and are unwilling to come together and work out the differences. And that's the problem here."

It's time for Mueller to get off the damned pot already.

Mueller is taking too damned long. Whitaker is installed. Barr will soon be installed. The government is shutdown. The president is tweeting racist right-wing shit (prayer rugs!?).

The investigation of whether the President is controlled by Russia is a political question. The investigation needs to be more in the open. It cannot run entirely in the shadows. The public has not been prepped for what is eventually coming.

Mueller doesn't need to issue the report now. He doesn't need to finish now. But he needs to fucking say something!

Why hasn't Stone been indicted? Why not Corsi? Why not Trump Jr.? What the hell is he waiting for?

Why hasn't he subpoenaed Trump already to ask him those questions?! Why has he given Trump all this time to ignore the questions? It is time to get answers to those questions!

We've gone YET ANOTHER WEEK with no fucking indictments! I'm tired of this.

Mueller ALREADY strongly hinted at the claims in the Buzzfeed report

Read, again, what Mueller said in his sentencing memo for Michael Cohen. Reading between the lines, and knowing what Mueller can't yet say, strongly hints that the BUzzfeed story is true.

The defendant lied to Congress about a business project (the “Moscow Project”) that he worked on during the 2016 presidential campaign, while he served as Executive Vice President at a Manhattan-based real estate company (the “Company”) and as Special Counsel to the owner of the Company (“Individual 1”). The defendant admitted he told these lies—which he made publicly and in submissions to Congress—in order to (1) minimize links between the Moscow Project and Individual 1 and (2) give the false impression that the Moscow Project had ended before the Iowa caucus and the first presidential primaries, in hopes of limiting the ongoing Russia investigations being conducted by Congress and the SCO.
....
During his proffer sessions, the defendant admitted that this account was false and that he had in fact conferred with Individual 1 about contacting the Russian government before reaching out to gauge Russia’s interest in such a meeting.
....
Third, Cohen provided relevant and useful information concerning his contacts with persons connected to the White House during the 2017–2018 time period.

Fourth, Cohen described the circumstances of preparing and circulating his response to the
congressional inquiries, while continuing to accept responsibility for the false statements contained
within it.

Who are the "persons connected to the White House"? The gardner?
Who did he circulate his false testimony to? The White House chef?

Labour MP: "There is no leftwing justification for Brexit"

Extracts from Labour MP David Lammy's speech:

Brexit is a con, a trick, a swindle, a fraud, a deception that will hurt most of those people it promised to help, a dangerous fantasy which will make every problem it claims to solve worse ...

Friends on this side of the House tell me to appease Labour voters in industrial towns - the former miners, the factory workers, those who feel they’ve been left behind. I say we must not patronise them with cowardice, let’s tell them the truth - you were old a lie.

Immigrants have not taken your jobs, our schools and colleges failed to give you the skills, hospitals are not crumbling because of health tourists but decades of austerity that ground them down to the bone, you cannot afford a house because both parties failed to build, not because of Mohammed down the road who moved in, and wealth was hoarded in London when it should have been shared across the country.

Blame us, blame Westminster, do not blame Brussels for our own country’s mistakes and do not be angry at us for telling you the truth, be angry at the chancers who sold you a lie ...

Just as I speak plainly to the government this time around, let me also speak to the pposition about some home truths. There is no leftwing justification for Brexit.

Ditching workers’ rights, social protections and ending environmental cooperation is not progressive.

This is a project about neo-liberal deregulation, it’s Thatcherism on steroids pushed by her modern-day disciples.

Leaving the EU will not free us from the injustices of global capitalism, it will make us subordinate to Trump’s US.

#BoycottTrumpsAddress is trending on Twitter

The hashtag #BoycottTrumpsAddress is trending on Twitter (at least for me, people can sometimes see different items). Twitter lists it at 26.9K tweets. Some examples, without links:

I choose to #BoycottTrumpsAddress and instead will be having dinner with my family and reading a book. How about you?

Stephen Miller will write a hateful speech full of bigoted propaganda & fake statistics

Trump will read it while implementing his own falsehoods

And whoever broadcasts this without fact checking it beforehand, are just as complicit as the GOP is

#BoycottTrumpsAddress

Hard pass on manufactured crisis propaganda. I will not entertain authoritarianism. #BoycottTrumpsAddress

America needs more love, more compassion, more facts, more country before party, more people willing to defend our democracy.

We do not need more lies, more racism, more hate, more chaos, more propaganda, more abuse of power, more of the Trump shutdown.

Schumer and Pelosi should counter the "national emergency" nonsense now

From CNN:

President Trump says he may declare a national emergency to get money for his border wall depending on what happens over the next few days

https://twitter.com/cnnbrk/status/1081945657412186112
The Democrats need to start setting the counter narrative now. This is an unprecedented and dangerous move from the President. They need to have a bill ready in the House that would cancel any called national emergency. They can cancel it, if they override a veto (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Emergencies_Act , including the note near the bottom about requiring a joint resolution). I realize it would struggle in the Senate, but it would help set the narrative.

They need to plan for legal challenges against this.

They should not allow the GOP propaganda artists set the expectation that this is OK.

Brexit planning going well

One of the companies contracted by the government to charter ferries in the event of a no-deal Brexit does not own any ships, has not previously operated a ferry service and is not planning to do so until close to the UK’s scheduled departure date from the European Union, it has emerged.
