Granite Block Commemorating Trump's NH Primary Win Vandalized

A granite block commemorating then-candidate Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 New Hampshire Republican presidential primary was vandalized early Friday, according to authorities.

Police said the block – which was part of a display showcasing every winner of the state's presidential primary along the sidewalk outside the State Library in Concord – was damaged between 4:30 and 6:30 a.m.

The block was smashed and scattered on the grass and street, police said.

An investigation has been opened, and police are currently searching for suspects.

Ex-Ohio State coach encouraged wrestlers to walk back allegations against Jordan

http://thehill.com/homenews/house/400004-former-ohio-state-coach-encouraged-wrestlers-to-walk-back-allegations-jordan

A retired Ohio State wrestling coach encouraged two former team members to walk back their accusations that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) turned a blind eye to reports of sexual abuse during his time at the school, according to NBC News.

NBC obtained text messages from the former wrestlers, which showed ex-coach Russ Hellickson urging them to issue a statement of support for Jordan.

“If you think the story got told wrong about Jim, you could probably write a statement for release that tells your story and corrects what you feel bad about. I can put you in contact with someone who would release it," Hellickson wrote to Dunyasha Yetts.

Yetts told NBC News that he believes Hellickson was under pressure from Jordan to get the accusers to recant stories.

Yetts and former wrestler Mike DiSabato levied sexual misconduct allegations against the former team doctor, Richard Strauss. They additionally alleged that they told Jordan about the abuse at the time, but did not report it.

'Text Massages' Typo Turns Donald Trump Into A Twitter Laughing Stock "What do those feel like?"

‘Text Massages’ Typo Turns Donald Trump Into A Twitter Laughing Stock
“What do those feel like?”

Another day, another typo from President Donald Trump.

But his latest gaffe caused much mirth online after he mistakenly tweeted “text massages” instead of “text messages” in this Saturday morning rant against the FBI:

The tweet was deleted after around 30 minutes of being online. It was replaced, along with a subsequent one, with these posts:

Why isn’t the FBI giving Andrew McCabe text messages to Judicial Watch or appropriate governmental authorities. FBI said they won’t give up even one (I may have to get involved, DO NOT DESTROY). What are they hiding? McCabe wife took big campaign dollars from Hillary people.....

.....Will the FBI ever recover it’s once stellar reputation, so badly damaged by Comey, McCabe, Peter S and his lover, the lovely Lisa Page, and other top officials now dismissed or fired? So many of the great men and women of the FBI have been hurt by these clowns and losers!

In a surprising twist, the squirrel was the one who needed assistance.

A man in Germany may not have been in danger when he called the cops on a baby squirrel chasing him, but it all worked out for the best for the furry suspect.

Emergency services in the city of Karlsruhe got a call Thursday from a man panicked that the tiny animal wouldn’t stop following him around, The Guardian reported. Police arrived at the scene, where the squirrel ultimately ended the pursuit by lying down and going to sleep.

It turned out that the squirrel was the one who actually needed help, police said.

“It often happens that squirrels which have lost their mothers look for a replacement and then focus their efforts on one person,” police spokeswoman Christina Krenz told The Guardian.

The squirrel, now named Karl-Friedrich, is in the care of an animal rescue center. Karlsruhe police posted a statement on Facebook about the critter, including several adorable photos. The department wished Karl-Friedrich the best.

Repubs preparing to blame Obama for coming "massive recession"

Despite weekly jobless claims hovering near historic lows and the number of job openings far exceeding the number of Americans that are currently looking for work, Euro Pacific Capital CEO Peter Schiff continues to be cautious when grading President Trump’s performance on jobs and the economy.

“Donald Trump inherited a big fat ugly bubble, to quote Trump, from Obama and all he’s done is blow more air into it,” Schiff told FOX Business’ Liz Claman on Thursday.

The U.S. economy grew at an annual rate of 4.1% in the second quarter, the fastest pace since 2014. Trump told a group of business leaders this week that the GDP rate may top 5% in the next quarter.

Schiff warns the U.S. economy is headed toward a “massive recession” and the GDP rate will not exceed 3% in 2018.

“Trump bought the economy some time with the tax cuts, but all it’s doing is pushing off the day of reckoning,” he said on “Countdown to the Closing Bell.”

----

However, Schiff says the economy is not as robust as the numbers indicate due to the lack of wage growth in the labor force.

“Real wages are falling and they are going to fall even faster because inflation is going to get higher when we get into the next recession,” he said.

New data makes it clear: Nonvoters handed Trump the presidency

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2018/08/09/new-data-makes-it-clear-nonvoters-handed-trump-the-presidency/

The data also makes another point very clear: Those who didn’t vote are as responsible for the outcome of the election as those who did.

As we noted shortly after the election, about 30 percent of Americans were eligible to vote but decided not to, a higher percentage than the portion of the country who voted for either Trump or his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton. Pew’s data shows that almost half of the nonvoters were nonwhite and two-thirds were under age 50. More than half of those who didn’t vote earned less than $30,000 a year; more than half of those who did vote were over age 50.
