tRump stirs up trade war with India

Washington (CNN)The Trump administration announced Friday that it's ending special trade treatment for India, removing a status that exempts billions of dollars of the country's products from US tariffs.

"I have determined that India has not assured the United States that India will provide equitable and reasonable access to its markets," President Donald Trump said in a proclamation issued by the White House.

As of June 5th, India will be terminated from its designation as a beneficiary developing country. The move adds one more front to Trump's global trade wars. It comes as Trump took new aim at Mexico this week with threatened tariffs if the country does not step up its immigration enforcement actions. The President has also promised new levies on China amid an impasse in negotiations over a renewed trade deal, and is considering a ban on foreign auto imports.

India will be removed from the preferential trade program, known as the Generalized System of Preferences, which gives developing countries easier access to the US market and lowers US duties on their exports. The White House also removed Turkey from the GSP program.

The US announcement comes two days after India's Narendra Modi was sworn in for a second straight term as prime minister.
In a statement Saturday, India's government said it was "unfortunate" that the US did not accept India's offer of a resolution.
"In any relationship, in particular in the area of economic ties, there are ongoing issues which get resolved mutually from time to time. We view this issue as a part of this regular process and will continue to build on our strong ties with the US, both economic and people-to-people," the statement read.
Tensions between the two countries have increased in recent years over trade.

A drunken principal arrested at a strip club during a field trip to Washington D.C. has resigned as head of a Louisiana Catholic school.

Officers responded to Archibald Gentleman’s club around 2:20 a.m. Friday for reports of “an intoxicated man refusing to pay his bill,” according to a police report obtained by The Advocate. When law enforcement arrived on the scene, they found Holy Family Principal Michael Comeau “standing in the roadway, refusing to move.”

Authorities requested that he get out the street “multiple times,” but to no avail. Ultimately, the 47-year-old principal was arrested at the strip club and bar – located downtown less than a mile away from the White House – on charges of public intoxication and possession of an open container.

The Diocese of Baton Rouge in a statement released Friday confirmed the incident, noting that all students on the trip were in their hotel rooms and under the supervision of chaperones when their principal was arrested

Cop, 29, faces assault charges over shocking video of him 'repeatedly hitting a homeless woman'

A grand jury indicted police officer Phillip Larscheid, 29, on charges of aggravated assault and violation of his oath of office
Larscheid was initially cleared but the department reopened its use-of-force investigation after a bystander's video of the arrest surfaced online
The homeless woman, who has been identified as Katie McCrary, was begging customers for money at the store
McCrary pushed the officer and grabbed his vest and radio, according to a police report
The video shows the officer repeatedly striking McCrary with his baton as he tells her to put her hands behind her back and she struggles

'We'll take appropriate action in the next days and weeks,' LoRusso said. 'Obviously, it's devastating.'

Police initially cleared Larscheid after the June 4, 2017, arrest, Boston said. But the department reopened its use-of-force investigation after a bystander's video of the arrest surfaced online, she said.

Larscheid responded after employees at the gas station convenience store in Decatur, just east of Atlanta, were called to report that someone, later identified as Katie McCrary, was begging customers for money at the store.

A grand jury indicted Larscheid, 29, on charges of aggravated assault and violation of his oath of office, county District Attorney Sherry Boston said

Trump Mayhem: Hundreds of thousands of activists are preparing to paralyse London next week

Trump mayhem: Protesters vow to paralyse London during the President's visit with marches, a rude robot and THAT blimp
Hundreds of thousands of activists are preparing to paralyse London next week
They are planning a mass demonstration over Donald Trump's state visit
More than 20,000 police officers will be deployed at 20 separate events

Hundreds of thousands of activists are preparing to paralyse London with mass demonstrations during Donald Trump’s state visit next week.

More than 20,000 police officers will be deployed at 20 separate events planned across the country in a security operation expected to cost about £18million.

The main protest will be held in central London on Tuesday with organisers claiming a quarter of a million will march from Trafalgar Square to Parliament Square. Scotland Yard has given them permission to protest just yards from Downing Street while the US President has lunch there with Prime Minister Theresa May.

Two groups – Stand Up To Trump and Stop Trump – are co-ordinating protest groups for what they are calling a ‘carnival of resistance’. They have laid on coaches to bring thousands of supporters to the capital from cities and towns across the UK.

A spokesman for Stand Up To Trump said: ‘We will be bringing central London to a standstill. By the time he leaves he will know, and the world will know, that people here reject him and his toxic politics.’

Stop Trump added: ‘We will make it clear to the British Government it’s not OK to normalise Trump’s agenda and the fear it has sparked.’

The average millennial has an average net worth of $8,000. That's far less than previous generations

Millennials are doing far worse financially than generations before them, with student loans, rising rents and higher health care costs pushing the average net worth below $8,000, a new study shows.

The net worth of Americans aged 18 to 35 has dropped 34 percent since 1996, according to research released Thursday by Deloitte, the accounting and professional services giant. This demographic is paying more for education and such basics as food and transportation while incomes have largely flatlined.

"The vast majority of consumers are under tremendous financial pressure," said Kasey Lobaugh, Deloitte's chief retail innovation officer and lead author of the study. "That is particularly true for low-income Americans and millennials."

The growing gap between the nation's wealthiest residents and everybody else, he said, is affecting the way consumers spend.

Education expenses have climbed 65 percent in the past decade. Food costs have jumped 26 percent, health care is up 21 percent, housing jumped 16
