Statement by Vice President Harris on Supreme Court's Ruling In 303 Creative v. Elenis
Statement by Vice President Harris on Supreme Courts Ruling In 303 Creative v. ElenisAll people deserve to live free from discrimination. When you walk into a restaurant, a hotel, or any business open to the public, you are entitled to be served free from discrimination. For years, our nations civil rights laws have helped to make that ideal more real. The Supreme Courts ruling in 303 Creative v. Elenis departs from decades of jurisprudence by creating an exception to protections against discrimination in public accommodations. On the last day of Pride Month, the Supreme Court has paved the way for businesses across our nation to discriminate in the name of free expressionagainst the LGBTQI+ community, racial and religious minorities, the disability community, and women.
At a time when we celebrate hard-won advancements in LGBTQI+ rights, this decision threatens future progress. President Biden and I will continue to rigorously enforce federal anti-discrimination protections and fight for the right of all people to participate equally in our society. And as a crucial part of that fight, we continue to call on Congress to pass the Equality Act.

The barn swallows are back!
I have spotted a nest in my barn and one in my new garage extension. It's been 15 or 20 years since I had swallows nesting in one of my buildings, and now I have at least 2 pairs!
Whether you call them barn swallows, chimney sweeps, or martins, I love to hear them chatter and dart about. I've missed them.

Of course if you actually look up USPS regulations
https://pe.usps.com/cpim/ftp/manuals/dmm300/703.pdf
you'll find that Section 703 deals with non-profit organizations and the sneaky-assed NRA is simply pointing to a part of the definition of a non-profit organization.
Why are these assholes sending their propaganda to me? Are they carpet-bombing with this bulk mail?

KY GOP: From Trans/'Parents rights' to Union busting
What did the Kentucky legislature pass so far? A rundown of key bills, big and small.
[ ... ]
Senate Bill 7: Teachers union dues Senate Bill 7 would stop automatic payroll deductions for union dues of certain public employees, specifically targeting teachers unions like the Kentucky Education Association (KEA) and the Jefferson County Teachers Association (JCTA), two unions with well-funded political action committees that tend to support Democrats for office.
Much of the justification for the bill was that it would free up certain public employees from being forced to contribute indirectly to a political organization with whom they may or may not agree.
However, the bill exempts police, corrections and fire departments from the provision. Unions for these organizations tend to support Republicans for office in Kentucky.
The bill passed both chambers on a mostly party line-basis. Some rural Republican legislators, where teachers and other school district employees make up a disproportionate number of the district, voted against the bill.
