My first attempt at posting a photo

My sweetie Sophie

Do you live with one of these?

Happy 75th Birthday, Roger Waters!

What's your favorite Pink Floyd tune?

I have several. But I would like to see what other DUers think.

Woof, We thought it was.....

While driving through Akron, Ohio, today

After visiting my son and his girlfriend today, my husband and I were driving through Akron, a city we rarely visit, when we were stopped at a red light on West Market Street. My husband happened to glance over to the right .... then he said, "Is that LeBron James' school?"

Sure enough, there it was. An impressive brick building with white columns, brand new, standing there looking a bit out of place in a kind of rough part of town. The sign at the driveway said it was the "I Promise School" and was part of the Akron Public Schools. Large white letters along the edge of the driveway spelled out the words WE ARE FAMILY.

How could Don the Con disparage LeBron and call him stupid and low IQ? After putting so much time and heartfelt devotion towards an undertaking like this? This thought really boggled my mind.

This sight really moved me. Just thinking of how LeBron, a sports star with more than enough wealth, didn't have to put forth this effort. But he wanted to give back to his old community in a way that benefits kids. How many other sports stars would do something like this? It was an awesome sight. The two of us sat there, gazing at this beautiful new structure. Imagining what a great place this will be for disadvantaged kids to be able to succeed in school and in life.

Until the light turned green, and the guy in back of us honked his horn for us to get moving!

No wonder Donald Trump thinks he is irresistible to women ...

Whenever he leaves a room, he always hears them say "What an ass!"

No Gun Rights Rally for You, says Kent State

cross posted in Ohio section.

KENT, Ohio (WKBN) - Kent State University has told a recent graduate she has to stop advertising a rally on its campus, saying she hasn't properly registered the event.

Kaitlin Bennett's graduation picture, which showed her on Kent State's campus with her graduation cap and AR-10, went viral in May.

She's planning a Second Amendment rights rally for September 29 but Kent State said she didn't get the approval required by university policy.

The rally advertised several speakers not affiliated with the university, according to Kent State. Bennett said it will also be live streamed.

University leaders also said the event doesn't meet a policy mandating that a registered student organization or university department sponsor an event.

Kent State's statement on the rally said the university "upholds the right to free speech and values respectful dialogue from all points of view." However, it said event organizers have to follow the university's rules and policies.

Fewer than 3 dozen eminent citizens have received this honor

Fewer than 3 dozen citizens have received the honor of lying in state in the Capitol Rotunda.

John McCain will lie in state in both the U.S. and Arizona Capitols. Today would have been his 82nd birthday.

From NPR:

"The first person to receive this honor was former House speaker Henry Clay in 1852, and since then fewer than three dozen people have received this honor. According to the Architect of the Capitol, the Capitol's rotunda is considered "the most suitable place for the nation to pay final tribute to its most eminent citizens."

Past honorees include former presidents, including Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. Citizens who did not hold elected office, such as civil rights activist Rosa Parks and minister Billy Graham were also bestowed a similar privilege when they lay in honor in the Capitol Rotunda."

Billy Graham? I don't remember that .....

GOP Senator says McCain is "Partially to Blame" for White House Flag Drama

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) had complimentary things to say about John McCain, but viewed the White House’s indecision surrounding how long to fly the flag at half-staff unsurprising given the late senator’s rocky relationship with President Donald Trump.

“Well, you know, frankly, I think that John McCain is partially to blame for that because he is very outspoken,” Inhofe told reporters Monday. “He disagreed with the president in certain areas and wasn’t too courteous about it.” Both men, he said, were “strong-willed people.”

So now we are only allowed to honor those who agree 100% with The Orange Moron?
