Diamond_Dog's JournalThe CIA job
I really thought the CIA job was going to go to Traitorous Tom Cotton if they ever needed to replace Pompeo.
Now that's a guy -- Cotton -- who totally terrifies me.

Blood Sweat and Tears
Self titled album
1969
BS&T took pop in a bit of a different direction with the mixture of classical elements, jazzy horns, organ, blues, and David Clayton Thomas' smoky, soulful voice. Another one of my personal favorites!
Includes "And When I Die," "Spinning Wheel," and "You've Made Me So Very Happy".

Closer To It!
Brian Auger and the Oblivion Express
1973
I went through a jazz phase for a while. This one, though, I would describe more as jazz-funk-rock fusion, and has always been one of my favorites.
Includes Auger's best known hit "Happiness is Just Around the Bend"
but has interesting covers of "Inner City Blues" and "Compared to What" on Side 2.

Every Picture Tells A Story
Rod Stewart
1971
A blend of hard rock, folk, and blues from the guy with the famous raspy voice.
Even though "Maggie May" is the most well known song here, every song is a gem.
And what a great cover of the Temptations' "I'm Losing You"!

The Eagles
1974
Who out there hasn't heard at least one song off of this album? This was another record that was a staple in my college dorm room.
I saw them live in concert around this time and they were as spot on, harmonious, and just flat out perfect as they sounded on the record album. All songs good, no duds!
Includes "Already Gone," "James Dean," "Ol' 55" and "Best of My Love".

The Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus
Spirit
1970
This album didn't sound like anything else out at the time which of course meant I had to have it! Lilting melodies, jazzy notes, and good ol rock blended together. Widely considered by critics to be the best album of all time ..... (although, really, how can you pick any one!)
Includes "Nature's Way," "Animal Zoo," and "Mr. Skin".
The Constitution gives gun owners greater rights than women have
Heres a disturbing fact to consider in 2018, the year women supposedly began to topple the patriarchy: Gun owners in the United States, a majority of whom are men, have better constitutional rights than women.
Gun owners have the Second Amendment, in place since the 18th century. The U.S. is one of only three countries that offer constitutional protection to gun owners.
Women, meanwhile, have been fighting for an equal rights amendment for decades. Thats because the Constitution does not actually grant women equal rights under the law, setting the country apart from 131 other nations that explicitly guarantee gender equality in their constitutions.
This failing means that when it comes to a raft of issues ― including equal pay, sexual harassment and domestic violence ― women lose.

Alcoholic Coca Cola?
They're going to try it in Japan.....
"Coca-Cola is planning to produce an alcoholic drink for the first time in the company's 125-year history - with an alcopop-style product in Japan.
It is keen to cash in on the country's growing taste for Chu-Hi - canned sparkling flavoured drinks given a kick with a local spirit called shochu.
Chu-Hi - an abbreviation for shochu highball - has been marketed as an alternative to beer, proving especially popular with female drinkers."
