Premier League

starts up next weekend. Back to school where I live is August 12. I work in retail, and this year the company decided we have to work the Saturday AND Sunday leading up to back to school. That means I'm going to miss the first weekend of Premier League action. Guess I'll quit my job. Go Hammers!!!

Jane Campbell!!!

She is the greatest penalty kick stopper in the world!!! Stopped a penalty kick from World Cup team member Mallory Pugh to seal the win for the Houston Dash!!! I loves me some Campbell!

I'm just making an unscientific guess.

And attack me if you will. I welcome your anger and hatred, much like Emperor Palpatine. Looking at all these polls (which I'm not going to give a rip about until about Nov. 1 2020), my brilliant brain just thought of something. I could be wrong, but what segment of the population always answers their phone regardless if they recognize the number or not? It's older folks! They tend to be more conservative, right?

So, can these polls be at all accurate when most younger people aren't answering these calls? I know after getting several calls from numbers I don't recognize, sometimes I'll finally answer but just yell nonsense for a few seconds before hanging up. Who are these pollsters talking to? Seriously?!

Like I said, this is just my unscientific guessing at work. I'm just not understanding how we can get an accurate gauge nowadays. Maybe before cell phones and caller ID, more people would answer these calls.

One other thing: with this country now being a troll nation, couldn't people be giving false answers in order to give the other side false hope?

Ugh. Even writing this is upping my anxiety to unsafe levels.

I've got a question.

Why is that awful chik-fil-a company advertising all over the World Cup? Lots of the players are our LGBTQ sisters. Doesn't that go against that rancid chicken chain's belief system?

I'm currently watching season 7 of Arrow

on Netflix. At this point, I don't care about spoilers. Can someone please tell me if that bastard Diaz finally gets killed?! I hate him!!! The anxiety! It's killing me!!!

Been doing some thinking.

I often talk about wanting this country to go ahead and split again. I'll move to the north to be with like minded brethren. But today I was thinking about how much I love the fact that we are in the middle of North America. There is a lot of Mexican influence in the south where I currently reside, and I would guess there is some Canadian influence in our northern states.

Our neighbors' culture bleeds into ours. Not only that, but we have the luxury of people from all over the world bringing their history and culture and mixing it in. I know this isn't news, but I was just thinking about this and how frankly bad ass it is. I work in a little grocery store and at any given moment I may hear 4+ different languages spoken at once. I love that!

For anyone to be turned off by this boggles my mind. Why is the thought of different people speaking different languages so scary to some? Is it lack of education, travel, or curiosity? I don't know.

I feel sad and alone sometimes during these dark days we are in, but I keep telling myself "I am not alone in my thinking. The vast majority of my fellow countrymen feel as I do. This horror show will end. It is the final deathblow of a flailing, sad and pathetic construct of weak people with nothing but anger and hatred in their hearts."

It certainly is a struggle to wade through the perpetual vomit, but I'm going to get to the finish line. I don't want to miss what's on the other side.

I don't know. Maybe I've had too many beers.

Just got home

from the Houston Dynamo game. Saw a fan in my section with a Dynamo jersey with the number 45. The part of the jersey where the name would go said "Impeach". It was nice to see.

By the way, the Dynamo beat Columbus Crew 2-0!

Not sure if this goes here, but

found out yesterday I'll be a dad yet again. It'll be the third spawn of a jedi who is struggling not to succumb to the power of the dark side.

Kidding aside, I'll be a grandpa dad, having spaced them out 8 1/2 years apart. In fact, our latest wasn't exactly planned, and at the appointment yesterday we found out it's a boy and we're already 28 weeks along! Yikes!

It's scary bringing a new life into this rancid mess of a world we're in at the moment, but hopefully things will get exponentially better within the next few years. Otherwise, these kids will have to unleash the power of the force and help to take down the New Order with a little help from old grandpa dad jedi knight.

May the force be with all of us...

Currently on vacation

in Colorado. First time here. Beautiful place. We are up in the mountains among a TON of snow with more on the way soon. Anyway, we live right outside Houston and drove straight up into Wichita, Kansas where we stayed overnight before continuing on into Colorado. Let me just say, holy cow! Driving from Wichita into Colorado seemed to take FOREVER! I'm serious, that half of Kansas felt like it was larger than Texas. I'm guessing it's because there is not a lot to see except flat land. Houses were extremely few and far between. I commented to my wife and daughter that I felt like we were stuck in some sort of time loop, that we would never make it out of Kansas. Now, I hope I'm not coming off as rude, as I'm not trying to be. I was just not aware that there was so much empty space!
I do have to say, however, that I was absolutely shocked at the massive wind farms that are located in Kansas. It actually made me happy and excited to see this. I don't know, I just didn't expect to see these towering windmills by the hundreds upon hundreds planted on huge swaths of land in a red state. I guess I've just been naive. It just seems legislators from these red areas act like they hate the thought of renewable energy, but yet there it is, all over Kansas.
Seeing this gave me a glimmer of hope that maybe things are moving in the right direction, albeit very slowly. Way to go Kansas.
