I posted last Sunday

that my dad was in the hospital with covid and double pneumonia.

Well, he's still there and he's found out now he has Deep Vein Thrombosis to go along with all the other stuff.

I said in the original post that we don't have a great relationship. He's a faux news viewer who loves tucker carlson and of course he isn't vaccinated.

I'm preaching to the crowd here, but GET THE SHOT!!!

That is all. You may all carry on now.

I found out yesterday

from my stepmother (she's only like 10 years older than i, and my dad's 4th wife) that my 71 year old dad is in the ICU with covid. We don't really have a good relationship being that he's a faux news watcher and trump supporter who likes to throw around the "N" word a lot.

I'm shocked (not shocked) that he has covid because he started feeling sick 2 weeks to the day after spending Xmas with his large family. We were invited, but I told my stepmom we weren't going because my 2 year old and 11 year old aren't vaccinated (11 yo got her 1st shot last Tuesday), and I didn't feel comfortable having them around all those people. I got the silent treatment after that, but no skin off my back.

Anyway, stepmom informed us he wasn't feeling well on Saturday and i told my wife, "I guarantee he has covid." My stepmom seemed to not even want to consider that scenario in her text messages she was sending out.

Yesterday, it was confirmed once they went to the hospital that he does indeed have covid and double pneumonia. In my opinion, he may not leave that hospital due to the fact that he's overweight and has an issue with one of his lungs.

Now it's just a waiting game. If he ends up dying, I'll feel bad, but he had every opportunity to get the shot and to not allow himself to be brainwashed by a bunch of far right extremist assholes. But, if that was already his nature, is it really brainwashing? More like confirmation bias I guess.

It has been said many times: covid doesn't discriminate. Get the shot, even if you think it's a hoax or no worse than a cold.

Does anyone else's

Comcast Xfinity internet experience an outage every day from about 4:30 pm to 4:45 pm central time? It seems as if it drops out around that time every day. I'm sure I'm exaggerating, but it does happen a lot. There's finally a new internet service provider putting in lines in my area and I couldn't be happier. Xfinity blows.

Serious question:

Why is everything 11% off at Menard's? There isn't a Menard's near me and I keep seeing their commercials on my DVR'd episodes of Seinfeld i record on Sling. The episodes record mostly from a Milwaukee television station. I live in Houston.

Anyone else

hate that damn Applebee's commercial where people are dancing to that awful song about being fancy at Applebee's on a date night? I've seen the commercial like 10 times between yesterday and today. It has completely turned me against ever eating at that restaurant ever again. I'm getting nauseous just thinking about that commercial.

I'm going to throw up now.

Regarding Afghanistan,

I'm sorry, but I can't care about what happened. We fucked up going in 20 years ago. What? Did we not pay attention to Russia's fucked up experience? Being the USA, our arrogant asses actually thought we would succeed there. We were stupid.

I have no problem with us finally understanding the shit wasn't working and just leaving. Sorry, citizens of Afghanistan. We fucked up and your military blows apparently. We can't spend trillions of our dollars trying to help you (or whatever the fuck we were doing there), and you guys not help yourselves.

In my opinion, we've got much more pressing issues at home dealing with our own taliban.

Full disclosure: I hate the military industrial complex and I feel we spend an obscene amount of money on "defense".

I use Sling

as my main source of TV viewing. I have it set to DVR all episodes of Seinfeld since Hulu f'd me over and will only let you watch Seinfeld if you pay $60 a month.

Anyway, the channel it records from is FOX 6 out of Milwaukee (I think) so I get to see all these commercials for Menard's, Gruber Law Firm and Todd and Tod! I love hearing the accents! If it's not Wisconsin, it's some accent similar to it. Being in Houston, TX i don't hear it that often.

Well, I'm heading back to finish my episode of Seinfeld. Looking forward to the commercials!

I live a few miles down the road

from Intercontinental Airport Houston, so literally hundreds of planes fly over my house daily. It's not as bad as it sounds, I don't really notice them usually.

Some days, like this morning, my 2 year old and I will hang out on the swing outside and he will point out every plane he sees flying over with his funny way of saying, "See one!" It's a fun and relaxing activity he and I share.

With all the anxiety and anger I am prone to feeling in this day and age, I sometimes have to stop and let it go in order to remind myself there are moments to take in and just "see one".

Corny i know, but it's real.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but

there's currently a petition on Change.org to not allow Jeff Bezos to return to earth after he's taken his short trip into space.

I signed it. It's almost at 50,000 signatures.

Help!

Our central AC unit in our house needs replacing. I've seen estimates online ranging from $5,000 - $13,000. We have had 2 different companies give us estimates, and both companies said $24,000! Doesn't this sound unreasonable?! Does anyone have any knowledge on the subject, or any advice? Even if I could easily afford the $24,000, I wouldn't pay that much. By the way, our house is 2400 sq.ft. and 2 story if that makes a difference.
