Manafort's lawsuit against Mueller thrown out

https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/judge-dismisses-paul-manaforts-lawsuit-against-mueller-justice-department/

Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort responded to his indictment by Special Counsel Robert Mueller by fighting back big time. Not only did he seek to get the charges against him dismissed, he sued Mueller and the U.S. Department of Justice, claiming that the DOJ exceeded their authority when they put Mueller in place, and that Mueller went outside his own authority by charging Manafort. The judge in Manafort’s civil case said that bringing the lawsuit is not the way to go about fighting this, however, and dismissed the case on Friday.

Have you read the 1956 Democratic platform?

Almost all of the things they were fighting against then, with regards to Republicans, are eerily similar for today. Many of the things they stood for then, still stand today.

http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=29601

and it starts with a preamble:

In the brief space of three and one-haft years, the people of the United States have come to realize, with tragic consequences, that our National Government cannot be trusted to the hands of political amateurs, dominated by representatives of special privilege.

Four years ago they were beguiled, by empty promises and pledges, to elect as President a recent convert to Republicanism. Our people have now learned that the party of Lincoln has been made captive to big businessmen with small minds. They have found that they are now ruled by a Government which they did not elect, and to which they have not given their consent. Their awareness of this fact was demonstrated in 1954 when they returned control of the legislative machinery of the Federal Government to the 84th Democratic Congress.

So basic Republican tenets and reputation doesn't seem to have changed much in half a century.

Long read, but so many of it applicable today.

Another Cohen inconsistency

Cohen mentioned that he took out a second mortgage on his home to gather enough $ to pay off Stormy Daniels on behlf of Trump, not expecting to be reinbursed. We also now know that Cohen was in ownership of at least 200 taxi cab medallions for NYC. For a while they were worth around $1,000,000 each. They have since fallen in price and are currently worth a mere $200,000 each. A man awash in this type of money, or medallions that are quickly and easily turned into money, decided instead to take out a second mortgage on his home? We are to believe that his Trumpism runs so deep, his loyatly to Trump is so true, his dedication to Trump so vast, that he would put his home on the line? I call bullshit.

"Storm is coming" Republican strategist says about Trump

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/republican-strategists-warning-about-trump-probe-the-storm-is-coming-2018-04-01?link=TD_marketwatch_home_page.83461b39d1bfc251&utm_source=marketwatch_home_page.83461b39d1bfc251&utm_campaign=circular&utm_medium=MARKETWATCH

He went on to say a switch in Republicans’ fortune in Congress after November’s midterm elections could bring dire consequences for the Trump presidency.

“And it’s hard to believe then that when Republicans lose the House in 2018, maybe by 40 or 50 seats, that the House is not going to impeach him,” Castellanos said.

“And it’s also hard to believe that a U.S. Senate that’s going to be scared to death, though may still be in Republican hands, is not going to take a serious look when it has to deal with this president,” he said. “So get good legal help now, because the storm is coming.”

Trump’s legal team, according to numerous reports, has been reduced to two or three attorneys after John Dowd, his lead lawyer, resigned on March 22 after quarreling with the president over how to respond to Mueller’s prosecutors.

I am positive that any Republican with two brains cells to rub together is already thinking the same thing. Trump will employ every strategy he has to create a false narrative that he is great for the nation and only he can fix the problems, and will make the reality TV splash he is so famous for, and at least his staunch 30% will buy it all. But the Emperor truly has no clothes and we had best make sure *that* is the reality that finally sticks. If that means voting against Trump, regardless of the Dem message that so many purists are so eager to critisize, so be it. No more of this purity shit that we must vote for something. Voting against something is still and important an valid reason for casting a vote.

Part #369 Of the Stormey Daniels affair....there is a dvd

Stormy Daniels' attorney hinted on Thursday that he may have hard evidence that the adult-film actress had an affair with President Trump, posting a photo on Twitter of what appeared to be a compact disc in a safe.

"If 'a picture is worth a thousand words,' how many words is this worth?????" Michael Avenatti tweeted.

Given that Trump tried to use the same words on Comey, I find this quite titillating.

Maine GOPer drops out after hurling homophobic insults at Emma Gonzalez

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/maine-house-gop-candidate-who-insulted-parkland-students-drops-out/ar-BBKluPo?li=BBnb7Kz

Republican candidate Leslie Gibson has dropped out of the race for Maine's House of Representatives following backlash from controversial comments he made about two student survivors of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting.
<snip>
"There is nothing about this skinhead lesbian that impresses me and there is nothing that she has to say unless you're a frothing at the mouth moonbat," Gibson tweeted of González, according to the Press Herald. He reportedly called Hogg a "bald-faced liar." The Twitter account used to make the remarks appears to have been deactivated and Gibson's campaign account has been set to private.

I want my country back

...no, seriously, I want it back to the days when there were decent stateswomen & statesmen in the office of President and his/her Cabinet. Not the likes of Trump, Mnuchin, Sanders, DeVoss, Sessions, and almost Palin.

I want to the country to go back to a time when the POTUS was dignified, measured, calm, avoided name calling, and knew shit and read shit and was informed and smart, and showed true empathy for those in pain, and did not abuse the office to personally enrich himself.

I want the country to go back to a POTUS who would surround himself with centuries worth of good, institutional knowledge about the important tasks that affect this nation and it's citizens. Back to the time when our political enemy was heralded as such instead of muddying the waters and intending to sell out our nation by whitewashing murderous traitorous thugs intend on destroying Democracy. I want to go back to a time, and have a new time when we can have a President like Obama at the helm.

Sham elections: multiple votes by same Russian voters...caught on camera

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/identical-twins-and-carousels-russias-fairground-election/ar-BBKvVYu?li=BBnb7Kz#image=BBKvVYu_1|3

Ludmila Sklyarevskaya, a Russian hospital administrator, voted on Sunday in an election that gave Vladimir Putin another term as Russia's president.

Then she went to another polling station and voted again, according to Reuters reporters who witnessed her movements.

Sklyarevskaya, who denied any wrongdoing, was among 17 people who were photographed by Reuters apparently casting ballots at more than one polling station Sunday in the town of Ust-Djeguta, southern Russia.

Many appeared to be state employees, and some showed up in groups and in mini buses bearing the names of state-provided services.

We all knew the election was a sham...right?

Which candidate brings the whole package....

...health care for all, abortion rights, gun legislation, strengthening SS and Medicare, build infrastructure, social reforms, mental health strengthening, gay rights, aims to calm rather than aggravate negative international chatter, Constitutional knowledge, legislative experience, works for unity, brings a sense of honor, class, statesmanship, and decency to the Whitehouse?

I know there are may more values we could be looking for. Missing any one or a few isn't a deal breaker for me, but I certainly will be looking to see who embodies everything Trump is not.
