nature-lover's JournalSerious question: Are condoms next on the contraceptive hit list?
I called my representative's office this morning to tell him how disappointed I was with his vote yesterday. I also asked if condoms would be next. They politely asked for my contact info. and thanked me. Hope I hear from him.
If legal, the media should show the carnage. These images will be impactful and may initiate change.
The images will be horrible. But, I think 2nd amendment zealots as well as the general public need to see them.
The media shows the happy school pictures of these precious children and the interviews of their devastated families, but not the reality of what these weapons have done. We as a country should be outraged! Words are forgotten; images are not.
In Laredo, bus brigade is vaccinating Mexican citizens with COVID-19 shots that Texans aren't using
From Texas Tribune:
Launched in June, a cross-border effort using buses and donated vaccines is helping roughly 2,000 Nuevo Laredo residents per day get COVID-19 shots in Laredo 10% of Texas daily total.

(R)Racist. No longer Republican or GOP. No platform or "Grand" ideals, only racist.
When are WE going to say, "Enough is enough?" The Republican Party has lost the use of the badge GOP. The party consists of CRT deluded, anti-democracy, Putin supporting, grievance driven, non-critical thinking beings. A party that supports elected officials participating in a white nationalist conference and engages in the shameful questioning in the Supreme Court hearings has publicly confirmed the racist foundation of the party. (R)= Racist label has been earned. Make it stick. DU has the power to do so. I'll start: Ted Cruz (R)= Racist

My TX Ballot by Mail Application was accepted! Please put both Drivers License and last four of SS
Just called our county elections office. The application asks for either the license # or the last four of the SS. I had only included the license #. Luckily, she told me that they had both of these numbers listed in the database for me. This is not the case for everyone, so they are requesting that people to do both.
A big thank you to the DU folks who posted this caution last week! I would have not known to follow up on this otherwise.
There have been an estimated 942,431 excess deaths in the US since February 2020
This is an excerpt from an article from The Guardian that discusses under counted deaths from long term effects of Covid.
Interesting read.

Death rates are up 40% over what they were pre-pandemic, he said, among working-age people between 18 and 64. Deaths among older Americans have also increased, with one in 100 Americans over the age of 65 dying.
There have been an estimated 942,431 excess deaths in the US since February 2020, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Hispanic, Black and Native American and Alaska Native populations have been disproportionately affected with high death rates, research shows.
Previous crises pale in comparison to the pandemic, Davison said. A one-in-200-year catastrophe would be a 10% increase over pre-pandemic [levels]. So 40% is just unheard of.
