If one wants to be closer to the truth, flip everything he says to the opposite.

Everyone that's done much photography knows that incandescent lighting casts an orangish hue to your photos when using daylight-balanced cameras and film. That's the reason Kodak made special film with color correction for incandescent lighting.

If anything, typical energy efficient LED or fluorescent lighting would make him look blue or overexposed.......

Clarification: any exposure to him is overexposed........

Owning a dog means playing God - a pet owner's story.

Owning a dog means playing God. It's a role no human wants to play:

Oh, one other thing people who don't own dogs don't have to do: assume the role of God. Sooner or later, like Jack the Beagle did, the dog will grow quiet, and start spending hours far back in a closet.

So you take the little fellow to the vet, hoping maybe it was something he'd eaten, or slurped up in a mud puddle, but really you know what's probably happening. And the vet will poke a bit, and look at his gums, and say well, he's getting older, maybe after a few tests we'll know better.

I know, First World problems. And I know we anthropomorphize our pets. But anyone who speaks dog will understand.

I swear Lola gazes at us with utter trust. She has no idea what's coming. For now, I take her to the beach every day, and she takes long swims in the warm September river water and glories in fighting Charley for sticks, but she yips in pain sometimes.

I saw a bumper sticker once that stayed with me: "God help me become the person my dog thinks I am."

I don't have the heart for this. Meaning, of course, that I'm the failure.

I ran across this while reviewing the storm damage in Canada and thought I would share.

Don't currently have a dog but from past experience, I can relate.........

Corporate interests and funding corrupts almost without fail.

Many public organizations (including charities and universities) with original good intentions become corrupt after allowing massive corporate sponsorships. They become shills for the companies, drift away from their original missions, and leaders are often bribed.

Gun and ammo manufacturers and owners are simply another sector the GOP has co-opted to gain votes and campaign contributions, along with many of our churches and private schools.

The reason the GOP went after the gun and church sectors is because they can use fear of losing something (guns, religious rights, etc.) to capture votes and funding from organized groups.

More on the National Socialist Movement and this criminal....

National Socialist Movement (United States)
Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Socialist_Movement_(United_States)

(snip)
The National Socialist Movement (NSM) is a neo-Nazi organization based in Detroit, Michigan. It is a part of the Nationalist Front. The Party claimed to be the "largest and most active" National Socialist organization in the United States. Although classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, it refers to itself as a "white civil rights organization", and compares itself to the NAACP. The party also objects to being referred to as "racist", and "Neo-Nazi", stating that such descriptions of their goals are unflattering and inaccurate. Each state has members in smaller groups within areas known as "regions". The NSM holds national meetings and smaller regional and unit meetings.

Agents serving a search warrant for Conor Climo found a notebook with “hand-drawn schematics” for a possible attack in the Las Vegas area, and drawings of timed explosive devices, authorities said.

He used encrypted messaging to disparage Jewish people and members of the LGTBQ community, authorities allege. The 23-year-old also discussed attacking a local synagogue and talked about surveilling a downtown Las Vegas bar he thought catered to the LGBTQ community.

'I think Trump needs to show his face': Laid-off miners losing faith in coal promises
Chris Kenning, Louisville Courier Journal Published 11:45 p.m. ET July 31, 2019

Read here: https://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/2019/07/31/laid-off-eastern-kentucky-coal-miners-continue-block-train/1879761001/

(snips)
Protesting Kentucky coal miners sweated through a fourth day on top of a railroad track as they continued blocking a coal train from leaving a Harlan County mine.

Recently laid off, the miners are demanding weeks of back pay from their bankrupt employer as the company assets were put up for auction Thursday.
+++
But Blackjewel’s collapse left more than a quarter of Harlan County’s miners jobless. Some say they have nearly given up on President Donald Trump’s long-promised coal revival.

"I think Trump needs to show his face” in Harlan County, said miner Scott Mefford, who was among the dozens of miners on the train tracks near a sign that read, "No Pay, We Stay."
+++
Since the bankruptcy, Harlan County’s miners have struggled with overdrawn bank accounts, payments on houses and electric bills. Some said 401(k) contributions hadn’t been properly credited to their accounts for months. Many have been relying on charity, unemployment or are considering changing careers amid coal’s long decline here.

"Our husbands worked for that money," said Sherrie Bowman, who said that her electric was temporarily disconnected and that she hasn't been able to get her son for critical medical treatment in Lexington.

The bankruptcy of the nation's sixth-largest U.S. coal producer came after a string of other major coal company bankruptcies in recent years, including Blackhawk and Wyoming-based Cloud Peak Energy in May.

Mass evacuation after fire triggers explosions at Siberian base
Flying shrapnel from military base leaves one soldier dead and at least seven injured

Andrew Roth in Moscow

An estimated 40,000 tank and artillery shells are kept on the base in Achinsk, a Siberian city that lies near the Trans-Siberian railroad, 2,000 miles east of Moscow. The Russian Defense Ministry said the storage site that exploded held gunpowder charges for artillery shells.
+++
It is not clear what caused the blasts, although lax safety precautions have caused similar accidents in the past. Siberia has also been hit by wildfires this summer, made worse by warming temperatures and a lack of rainfall.

Explosions at ammunition dumps can send unexploded shells flying for miles around, requiring a significant clean-up effort to de-mine residential areas before locals can return to their homes.

Russia arms dump fire: huge blaze in Siberia extinguished

Link: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-49249504

(snips)
Firefighters have put out a blaze at an ammunition dump in Siberia and munitions are no longer exploding there, the Russian military says.

Ten massive Il-76 cargo planes and five Mi-8 helicopters are water-bombing the area, near the town of Achinsk in the Krasnoyarsk region. A defence ministry statement said "there are no more fires" at the site, an old dump due for closure housing some 55,000 artillery shells.

More than 9,500 people were evacuated. Six injured people are in hospital, but they are not critically ill.

Flying munitions damaged a school and a kindergarten in the village of Kamenka. But Deputy Defence Minister Gen Dmitry Bulgakov said that besides smashed windows there was little structural damage in the area. Local residents were evacuated from inside a 20km (12 miles) radius around the arms dump.

Very complex issues. Republicans play our public like a cheap fiddle.

Inherited from our primitive ancestors, thousands of twists in individual mental properties exist between us that will always be there. But modern man chooses to create an ideal human as reference and any of us not fitting that perfect model may be shunned rather than embraced to fit in and be happy and comfortably productive.

That ideal human concept was implanted in our brains by a combination of greedy psychopathic leaders, inhuman corporate objectives, and commercialized dogmatic religion. Persons who are mentally different, highly sensitive, artistic, physically unattractive or otherwise not the perfect producer are considered outcasts.

The internet provides a place of escape for outcasts or those not seen as perfect, just like the kitchen table at home and the humble churches used to provide. It's collects both the best and most evil among us and can be a blessing (as with DU) or a curse - where many dark and dangerous sites exist to play on the vulnerable. The fact that individuals can latch onto a group of people they've never seen and whose history or motives they don't know, and yet call that group "friends" or that place "home" is a very disturbing trend.

We live in a high-pressure society that draws out the worst properties in most of us, driven by unfettered capitalism promoted by selfish so-called conservatives around the globe. These pressures worsens mental sensitivities and often trigger violent reactions. Demands for higher and higher productivity, advertising that encourages waste and individuality, and the urge to buy everything in sight ('cause the neighbor got one) drives us toward individualism rather than a healthy community.

It's no wonder we're collectively going nuts. We cannot behave sanely without brotherhood and love of fellow man.

I would submit that we're facing a very dark future unless we:
* are willing to unchain ourselves from nationalism, individualism, racism, materialism and greed,
* demand reasonable limits on individual wealth,
* develop systems of shared ownership of the earth's resources,
* rededicate ourselves to fundamental moral values and the value of community, and
* dedicate ourselves to protecting our planet's environment as best we can.

In summary, people haven't really changed much but our society's mental and emotional environment sure as hell has.

Great OP, H2O Man.........
