I wish she could hold a frequent, scheduled official news conference to review what is being done in Congress in simple terms. Such a broadcast could in effect replace the White House news conferences which are a farce.

Good list, Botany, but I suspect we flew the drone 100% as an intimidation, not for surveillance. We have precision satellites and high-altitude spy planes for that. It was noting but stupid, immature and expensive political game play.

The U.S. needs to be condemned and possibly sanctioned by the international community to stop this madness, in order to effectively rebuke Trump and his neocons. These actions and particularly hard military action affect people around the globe with economic and political turmoil.

I'm also aghast at the international community of Islam for not unifying and stopping this non-stop fever of conflict in the Middle East and parts of Asia. I am a dreamer.

I've noticed for the last several years, the dialog and demeanor of people I deal with (family, friends, businesses) has slowly become more caustic and smart-ass, like a bunch of teenagers competing for dates. I hope people finally tire of social media and we reverse that trend. I've let several people know that behavior simply is not acceptable.

There's no purpose in being abrasive when commenting on our politicians and their statements - it only annoys and serves no end. We should simply state our objections in a rational way and leave it at that. Reading a string of posts on DU should not leave me a nervous wreck, but some have recently.

If we try to be more like old-fashioned ladies and gentlemen, the right-wing trolls will get bored and leave....

You immediately foul your argument with unfounded claims, such as...

That claim has absolutely no foundation in fact and is highly speculative. There is no promise land in American politics and never will be so long as Republicans have potentially unlimited funding and clandestine support from around the globe at their disposal. Those unknown factors render long-term election predictions virtually useless.

Therefore, no landslide can credibly be predicted. We all wish it were as simple and straightforward as you have claimed.

Further, broadcasting such claims will tend to weaken Democratic Party efforts for GOTV and fundraising. If impeachment began and everyone then thought a landslide was forthcoming, many Democrats might just stay home or not bother to contribute.

I support opening an impeachment inquiry as soon as practical, but I also know there's procedures that must be followed to keep the process within the Constitution and our laws, and to ensure maximum impact with the best political timing.

We must also respect the fact that Congress cannot spend 100% of its time on investigations. They have other functions that must be performed such as budgets to maintain at least minimum government functionality.
